Drift onboarding

Drift's onboarding flow has several large requirements in it. The biggest one being that it requires the person signing up to copy a piece of javascript and install it on their site. For technical folks, it's not that big of deal... but for marketers and other non-technical people, it is a giant hurdle.  

In order to increase installations of Drift, the onboarding flow was meticulously designed to do 3 things: 

  1. Reduce the time to a WOW moment. 
  2. Put an emphasis on PEOPLE, not tools. 
  3. Ease of setup when it comes to installing the javascript snippet.  

Those 3 things were executed so well that we ended up 5x-ing our conversion rate, making it (dare I say) a best in class onboarding.

RUNKEEPER + SPOTIFY 

Integrating with Spotify was a strategic partnership that we brought to RunKeeper to provide more value for our users. The data team and UX researchers at RunKeeper discovered that there was a lot of user pain around going on a run. In short: Running is physically challenging and mentally boring.

Consulting and working in parallel with the Spotify API team as their first launch partner, we began developing an experience that encourages Premium Spotify users to connect their account to RunKeeper by allowing them to listen to their saved playlists. Taking it a step further, we included a collection of suggested playlists that Spotify and RunKeeper would be able to tailor to the user's workout needs.

WORKOUT REWARDS: KIIP + RUNKEEPER INTEGRATION 
 

The RunKeeper and Kiip partnership creates meaning around happy user moments. When is the happiest moment in a users experience? After they are done their with workout of course!

RunKeeper utilized the Kiip platform in order to deliver rewards and discounts to users post-workout. In addition to providing tangible value to our users, Workout Rewards provided a turn-key solution for brands and partners to engage with the RunKeeper community in a meaningful way.

making an impact in the beauty industry 

Craven Salon Solutions is a beauty industry startup with two patented premier products, the Color Cradle and the Cap It. Working collaboratively with friend and colleague, Haley Botti, we began building the Craven Salon Solutions brand from the ground up. 

In Phase 1 we went through a traditional branding exercise of defining the positioning, voice, and visuals of the brand. The goal was to have a solid brand identity and corresponding guide to aid growth and sales while the company was planning their first order with a local manufacturer.  

In Phase 2 we began to expand the brand by building a digital presence. The website we designed and built was key, as it was the only means of buyers ordering the products and has been a leading factor in the growth of this innovative startup. 

With two main focuses flourishing, we moved on to product photography, packaging, and corresponding marketing materials to set Craven Salon Solutions up to provide a comprehensive brand experience.

The Runkeeper CHALLENGE EXPERIENCE 

RunKeeper Challenges is a comprehensive experience that ranges across mobile, web, email, and social channels. Closing out the year, the partnership product team focused it's efforts on developing new solutions for brands that meet a variety of user and business needs.

The Challenge experience provides users with relevant and motivational content that will help push them go above and beyond to achieve their goals. It also provides an opportunity to partner with influential brands that add even more value to a users day to day engagement with RunKeeper.

Users are notified when they are edible for a new challenge and can then opt in and work towards completing the proposed task. There are a variety of models that also allow for users to be rewards with prizes and discounts.

RUNKEEPER GOALS EXPERIENCE 

The new RunKeeper goals experience is optimized to help users set the right goal for them and stay motivated while they work towards it. Previously, goals was buried in the Me Tab. By building out a more comprehensive experience in it's own tab, we were able to set a higher priority to the idea of goal setting.

The biggest additions to the goals experience involved two brand new features added to RunKeeper Elite, the premium version of the app. Goal Coach and Goal Insights work together to provide guidance and feedback to users to keep them on track.

Users can click tap on the whistle icon in the top corner of the screen and answer a series of questions which are then analyzed. RunKeeper then provides personalized suggestions of appropriate goals and training plans that align with the users habits. Once a goal is set, users can tap into the cell to track their progress and receive encouragement and feedback.

INDOOR TRACKING EXPERIENCE 

Indoor mode was introduced into RunKeeper in 2014. Before this addition users could only utilize GPS mode and manual logging to track their activities within RunKeeper. This limited a section of users, particularly those who run on a treadmill or workout indoors, from using RunKeeper in a way that complemented their habits.

Jumping right into the problem, we began developing a creative and fun solution for users who where habitual indoor trackers or those who wished to keep their routine going during poor weather.
